DUPR Local Waterfall @ The College of Staten Island presented by The Staten Island Borough Presidents Pickle Ball Cup

  • 2800 Victory Boulevard Staten Island, NY, 10314 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

About the Event - Register here

The DUPR Waterfall features a new and innovative format that offers players four (4) competitive games all within a four-hour period. This revolutionary, amateur-only event will be like none other.

Address of the facility:

2800 Victory Blvd Staten Island NY 10314

BALL: Onix Fuse (indoor)

FORMAT:

Brackets are formed with 16 teams maximum and after each round, you continue playing against a team with the same sequence of wins-losses. For example, after round three, teams who won their first 2 and lost the 3rd play and teams that lost the first and won the next 2 play... Your sequence matters even though all teams have 2 wins and 1 loss. Each team will play 4 matches, 8-12 games, the best 2 of 3 games to 11 wins by 2.The tournament directors reserve the right to reclassify brackets to round robins or run them as Waterfalls even if it doesn't fill up (with some byes). Waterfalls also don't "guarantee" 4 matches. We schedule 4 matches"but there is a chance it won't fill up, a player gets injured, or just doesn't show up to the tournament.

MAXIMUM DUPR:

Players must have a DUPR of 4.99 or less because the DUPR Waterfall guarantees DUPR-neutral play; the tournament director will have final approval on tournament admission.

BRACKETS / PODS

4 matches will be scheduled within a four-hour Brackets will be released 48 hours prior to the start of the tournament. Players sign up with or without a partner and DUPR will create brackets of 16 teams based on the Team Average DUPR. Players can also play up in rating but cannot play down.

NYC Pickleball MLP Tournament presented by the brooklyn aces

  • 1561 Bedford Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11225 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

We're super excited to announce our first Major League Pickleball (MLP) style team-based tournament, happening Saturday, May 13th from 6-10pm at Major R. Owens Community Center, and hosted in partnership with The Brooklyn Aces - NYC's very own MLP team! (Read more about how they got started here)

An official MLP team consists of four players, two men and two women. One match between two teams consists of four games: two gendered doubles, two mixed doubles. If the teams are tied 2-2 at the end of those four games, then a "dreambreaker" is played to break the tie. The Dreambreaker is a game of singles where every player on the team will play 4 points at a time, and then rotate according to the team lineup. All games are played with rally scoring to 21.

We'll be running two skill divisions on May 13th, with four teams each. Players on the winning team in each division will receive a limited edition Brooklyn Aces Prize Pack (Brooklyn Aces Towel, Hat, and a pair of Kevin Durant Sneakers!)

  1. DUPR 16 teams should have two men and two women. Aggregate team rating for all four players should not exceed 16*.

  2. DUPR 18 teams are open gender. Aggregate team rating for all four players should not exceed 18*.

Note: you cannot be in both events as they will run concurrently.

*Some discretion is allowed if your team's aggregate rating is slightly above or below the division threshold, or if player DUPR is inaccurate. Self-ratings are acceptable if you do not have a DUPR.

Team captains can register their teams here. Registration fee is $260 per team ($65 per player). After you register, we'll send you a form to submit team information, including roster (player name, email, rating, shoe size) and team name. If your team needs to back out for whatever reason within 6 days of the event, you'll receive a full refund minus payment processing fees.

Tournament Guidelines

Participants must sign in no later than 30 minutes prior to start time. Replacement of participants will

begin 30 minutes prior to the start time. Unless positions are open after the waitlist is exhausted, a

player who misses the time deadline is out of that division. You will not be allowed to play up in the

tournament (if you are in gender and mixed you will still be able to play in the other division, if you meet

the 30 minute requirement)

Please complete and submit the registration form by October 7, 2022. Tournament entry will be three

non-used Franklin X-40 pickleballs for each division entered and will be collected the day of the

tournament. Consider buying in bulk with other tournament participants. Balls may also be purchased

from the Tournament Directors for market price at the tournament (indicate this option on the

registration form). Balls may be purchased in quantities of three or five (extra two balls may be used for

raffle which is explained below).

Medals will be awarded to each division (Medals donated by Alexander Kidder).

Once the tournament has reached capacity for a division, registrations will go on a waiting list. You will

receive an email informing you what division(s) and date you will be playing in or your position on the

waitlist. If players drop out prior to the tournament dates, the Tournament Directors will notify the first

person on the waitlist, moving down the list until filling the position.

You may sign up for a gender tournament as well as a mixed tournament (maximum of two divisions).

If a registered player fails to show up 30 minutes prior to the start time, individuals on the waitlist (who

show up on the tournament date) will be given a position in the tournament (using the previously

described format). If the waitlist is exhausted, eligible players on-site will be given the opportunity to

participate in the tournament.

The tournament will start promptly on the times listed (changes will be made for rain delays).

As all players will be playing each round, there are no substitute players to fill positions. Please commit

to playing the entire two hour period of your division.

In case of injury, the Tournament Directors will use the waitlist first, then their discretion to fill the

position.
