We're super excited to announce our first Major League Pickleball (MLP) style team-based tournament, happening Saturday, May 13th from 6-10pm at Major R. Owens Community Center, and hosted in partnership with The Brooklyn Aces - NYC's very own MLP team! (Read more about how they got started here)
An official MLP team consists of four players, two men and two women. One match between two teams consists of four games: two gendered doubles, two mixed doubles. If the teams are tied 2-2 at the end of those four games, then a "dreambreaker" is played to break the tie. The Dreambreaker is a game of singles where every player on the team will play 4 points at a time, and then rotate according to the team lineup. All games are played with rally scoring to 21.
We'll be running two skill divisions on May 13th, with four teams each. Players on the winning team in each division will receive a limited edition Brooklyn Aces Prize Pack (Brooklyn Aces Towel, Hat, and a pair of Kevin Durant Sneakers!)
DUPR 16 teams should have two men and two women. Aggregate team rating for all four players should not exceed 16*.
DUPR 18 teams are open gender. Aggregate team rating for all four players should not exceed 18*.
Note: you cannot be in both events as they will run concurrently.
*Some discretion is allowed if your team's aggregate rating is slightly above or below the division threshold, or if player DUPR is inaccurate. Self-ratings are acceptable if you do not have a DUPR.
Team captains can register their teams here. Registration fee is $260 per team ($65 per player). After you register, we'll send you a form to submit team information, including roster (player name, email, rating, shoe size) and team name. If your team needs to back out for whatever reason within 6 days of the event, you'll receive a full refund minus payment processing fees.
